What's The Difference Between Diversity and Inclusion: Eclectic Celebrates Pride Month.

Every year throughout June individuals, companies, and organisations across the world come together to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. This period is also known as ‘Pride Month’ and its origins date back to the Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, USA in 1969.

Although LGBTQ+ inclusivity has come a long way since the 1969 Stonewall Riots, there is still work to be done to achieve equality. For this reason, pride month is not only a celebration but a platform to further raise awareness around the inequality and stigmatism experienced by members of the LGBTQ+ community.

At Eclectic Recruitment, we recognise the importance of Pride Month and the need to raise awareness around and celebrate this amazing movement.

Last Thursday we hosted our very own ‘Pride Day’ where we invited the whole Eclectic team to dress up in the vibrant colours of the LGBTQ+ flag.

The day consisted of fun educational games where the team discussed the differences between diversity and inclusion (did you know that inclusion is diversity put into action?), took part in a ‘Kahoot Quiz’, and learned all about the different versions of the pride flag.

Emma (Recruitment Manager – Office) won the coveted prize of ‘best dressed’, Liam, who is one of our Founding Directors came out top in the quiz, and Jamie (Recruitment Manager – IT) was victorious in the flag competition.

As a brand we feel passionate about diversity and inclusion. Nobody should be held back in life due to gender, race, religion, sexuality, age, or disability.

We also recognise that individuals who feel comfortable they can express themselves for who they are in the workplace tend to not only enjoy their jobs but become high achievers too.

This is something that is already ingrained into the culture of Eclectic Recruitment, and it serves as one of our core values which drives us forward as an employer and a business.
